These plans were specifically created for FBA sellers. They address 2 problems; first the designated “unsellable” merchandise that Amazon receives from customer returns… and second, the unsold aging inventory that will accumulate outrageous storage fees.

When an item comes back to Amazon as a return, it is “examined” by a warehouse worker. It is determined by this employee to be “resellable” or “unsellable”. The resellable items are returned to inventory, but the unsellable products are put aside and then start incurring storage fees until instructions are given by the seller on what to do with the inventory.

Amazon FBA allows sellers choose to sweep their accounts on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis and send the items to a location of their choice. Many items are in perfectly fine condition, however; items must be returned to the seller and inspected for final judgement.

Most sellers don’t want, or have the means to accept these unwanted items so; they pay Amazon to dispose of the items for a fee. This results not only in lost revenue, but it now also becomes a cost.
